Lard is made from pig fat. Thus, the key difference between tallow and lard stems from their source; tallow is derived from mutton or beef whereas lard is derived from pork. WebTallow and lard are both animal fats. So, they will be high in fat and calories. Lard is slightly higher in both but lower in saturated fat (the bad fat).
