WebI've cut it down between UofT, Carleton U and McGill U, all great programs. UofT has given me a $1,500 entrance scholarship, Carleton U has given me a $3000 dollar renewable entrance scholarship (for a total of $12,000) and a $2,500 grant for academic excellence while, McGill U has given me nothing. WebCarleton's engineering program is well regarded and they have a strong co-op program as well. If your average "isn't that great" you presumably won't be getting into a top ranked program. Among all the rest it's a strong choice. In the end all engineering programs are accredited so it doesn't make that much of a difference. Opinion on Carleton University? : r/OntarioUniversities - Reddit

WebCarleton is a great school. The students can be intense with their academics, but they are not competitive. It's known as a "work hard, play hard" kind of place. The atmosphere sounds like it's exactly what you're looking for--students are smart and passionate, but also chill and super friendly! Seriously, everyone is really nice and welcoming. WebCarleton engineering seems pretty rigorous. I've met engineers who graduated from other unis and their programs weren't as rigorous. We go through horrible horrible courses like fluids/thermo/solids/dynamics II but they teach a lot of advanced topics that can help in the industry. Beware coops.

WebCarleton is like top 10 for cs in Ontario & would be a better choice imo than your other options Although I am still in high school but I have applied for computer science in Carleton, uOttawa, Ryerson etc too. From my research, I will rank these universities as Carleton > Guelph > Western/York. WebCarleton is all packed together so it's easier to get around but uOttawa being downtown can be convenient if you spend a lot of time there. WebThe Dev Degree program is incredibly competitive to get into, though I’d assume that if you’ve got a couple good projects and a reasonably high average you’ve got a decent shot at it. You can apply either in grade 12 as an incoming student or in first year. You don’t need to be in the honours program to apply or get a dev degree placement. hossaertWebCarleton is of course higher ranked - it competes more with schools like Colby, Bowdoin, Hamilton, Middlebury. (I’m not sure that will change one’s lot in life in terms of grad school or career prospects, which are great with both degrees.) Its kindred spirit university is Dartmouth - rural, bucolic.
