WebThe Ericson Cruising 36, while very modern below the waterline has the aft steering arrangements of working sail and sailing yachts from the turn of the century. I thought about tearing the whole thing out and that seemed like too much trouble. At least it is not sitting in the middle of the cockpit and at least it is not some huge monster. WebSep 7, 2010 · The Ericson 381 has a shorter mast than the Ericson 38. I believe the 381's sail area is in the mid 600 square foot range while that of the E38 is in the low 700s. As far as keels, the E38 had both deep and shoal keel options. I'm not sure about the 381. The Cruising 36 is a fast cruiser, hefty enough to be comfortable and stable, a safe boat, and well built. Her interior dwarfs most other cruisers her length.
